The global smart home appliance market is witnessing a significant uptick, driven by growing consumer awareness of energy conservation and the rising adoption of smart home ecosystems, according to a new report released by market research firm Statista.
The report highlights that energy-efficient smart appliances—such as AI-powered refrigerators that adjust cooling based on usage, and smart washing machines with load-sensing technology—accounted for over 60% of global smart appliance sales in the first half of 2024. This marks a 15% year-on-year increase, as households seek to cut electricity bills amid global energy price fluctuations.
Major manufacturers are responding to this trend by integrating advanced technologies. South Korea’s Samsung, for instance, recently launched a line of smart ovens equipped with “Eco-Mode,” which uses machine learning to reduce energy consumption by up to 20% while maintaining cooking performance. Meanwhile, China’s Midea has rolled out smart air conditioners that sync with local weather data to optimize temperature settings automatically.
North America and Europe remain the largest markets for smart home appliances, but the Asia-Pacific region is growing at the fastest pace—with a 22% year-on-year growth in sales, led by China and India. “Consumers in emerging markets are increasingly linking smart appliances to both convenience and sustainability,” said Lisa Chen, a senior analyst at Statista. “This shift is pushing brands to offer more affordable, energy-saving models tailored to these regions.”
The report also notes that connectivity remains a key focus. Over 85% of new smart appliances now support multi-platform integration, allowing users to control devices via voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, as well as through smartphone apps. This seamless connectivity has become a top purchasing factor for 72% of consumers surveyed.
Looking ahead, the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.3% from 2024 to 2030, with energy efficiency and cross-device compatibility continuing to shape product development.
